Finally a bit of sun!

OK, we've had a few hours of uninterrupted sunshine, I quickly mowed the 2 foot tall grass in the backyard and sent the kiddos out to play.

My 6 year old just asked to watch the news.

Its been raining for 7 days straight - I am not exaggerating. Its awful, the kids are going stir crazy and I'm going to take them to the mall and let them behave like heathens so that they can work off some energy.

Anyway, Ethan just asked to watch the news, Hunter doesn't want to and Ethan's comment "There might be a flood coming." I think I might have given birth to the reincarnation of Noah; or maybe he's watched too many Evan Almighty trailers.

Rain, Rain, GO AWAY!

I'm completely sick and tired of all this rain. I don't want anymore. I live in Texas, not the Amazon, I can't even take the trash out without bogging down to my ankles in mud. Its rained at least twice a week since April, and almost every day for the past 7 days. I know I shouldn't complain, but this is ridiculous. The mosquitoes are vicious! We have to mow every 48 hours and what's worse you ask?

THE KIDS HAVE TO PLAY INDOORS!!!

This is not a good thing, why? because you can never keep anything clean if they are constantly underfoot. Also, way too much TV. They get a little hyper after too much TV - I must get away from TV & Video gamed hyped up kids. OK, maybe I'll just lock myself in the bath when Mr. Mason comes home.

Turco the Shmurco

I have two cats, Zelda & Turco. Turco is a Manx and my troublemaker. He is an in-your-face kind of kitty. He is hyper, almost manic if you ask me. He has brought me snakes, mice, cicadas, cockroaches (It is so fun to open the backdoor and have the cat drop a roach at your feet.) and my favorite: an owl. Though the owl did survive after dropping it off at a avian rehabilitation center. I'm sure you're thinking - no birds? No he doesn't leave me any birds, he eats them. I have never wanted to hurl so much as I have when I walk up to the cat and he's chomping on some pour bird's body. I may blow just thinking about it.

My husband even saw the cat catch a bird twenty feet in the air. The cat ran up a tree and when the bird flew off, he jumped, caught the bird in his paws, put it in his mouth and landed on the ground and off he went to eat it. Well, I have to admit I have seen no strange animals around the house lately.

He also lives to sit behind my head and dig himself into my hair. I have very thick hair and when he gets his claws or teeth into it - it hurts. In fact, he just sharpened his claws on the rug and then ran across the suede sofa before ramming into the wall. I threw him out. Sometimes I think he's a pickle short of a deli plate.

Monsters or Models?

Well surprise, the monsters have turned models for the camera. We had to get Ethan a new bike because his knees were hitting his chest when he rode the old one. Can you say growth spurt? Daddy tried to take a picture of Ethan on his new bike and Mr. Hunter jumped in to say HI!!

Rained out again!

Well, thinking that we could make it around the block before the afternoon showers started we stepped outside for a quick walk. It was nice and sunny in the backyard when I looked outside. When we walked out the front door there was a cloud off to the SE, I thought we would be fine. I should know better than to trust my own judgement. Well it started to rain as we rounded the last corner (of course it was the far corner) so we took off running. It was just sprinkling then, by the time we got two houses away it was a full on downpour. Well, maybe the kids don't have to take a bath tonight.

Time for some Wii

Note to Moms & future Moms: do not take away TV or Video games on rainy days. It is awful. Wednesday night the monsters refused to go to bed, I told then (like any mother would who just wanted some quiet) "IF I HAVE TO COME IN HERE ONE MORE TIME, YOU WILL LOSE TV AND VIDEO GAMES TOMORROW!" Well, of course I had to come in there, they are 6 & 4 what did I expect? That they were actually going to listen to me this time?

Well, Thursday ended up being a dreary rainy day and they were stuck inside all day - all I heard was "I'm bored!" or "What can we do now?" It was one of those times where you really want to give in and say "JUST GO WATCH SOME TV." but I was strong, I held my ground and they did not watch TV. I feel like I passed a big Mom hurdle. YEA!! (Applause please!) Anyway we've had a 1/2 rainy, 1/2 hot sauna of a day here today, with some late afternoon showers expected. Thank goodness for the Wii.

Monsters, Monsters, Monsters.

In between loads of laundry, see my personal ramblings Me, Myself & I, on the boys did things in their playroom that don't make any sense to a girl, aka their mother. If anyone knows what the car parking lot is for or why they did it, I would greatly appreciate the insight.

The faces are standard boy fare.

The day at Big Grandma's and more

Today the boys and I spent much of the day at Big Grandma's. Big Grandma is my grandmother and the boys Great-Grandmother. First we went for a nature walk. We saw some cactus, butterflies, bees, a backyard with a train set in it, dog poop, and a lot of sunflowers. Then by the time we got back it was sooooo hot we had to take a dip in the pool.

We had hot dogs and Natural Cheetos for lunch with Big Grandma (got to have the natural Cheetos, because that counteracted the bad in the hot dogs.) We rested a little and then had some more pool time before heading back to the parental units homestead.

My dad and I had the Croc shopping adventure. That's a story unto itself and I won't go into it now.

Then there was the Hunter eyeglass fiasco. Boys will be boys you know, and after a time in the backyard Ethan informed his grandmother that Hunter was not wearing his glasses. After a few hours of hunting in the backyard for the glasses and several "I'm never coming to San Antonio again." comments the glasses were still not found. I came home at 9 and began looking in the mosquito infested backyard with a flashlight and then found them on the floor under the ottoman in the den.

Yippee another excited day!

A very busy day.

Well, the boys have had a very busy day today. We have gone swimming for about 2 hours. Ethan has officially learned how to dive, Hunter is making great progress swimming without the floaties. We had lunch with Grandma & Big Grandma and went back in the pool. After a little rest, the boys helped grandma in the yard watering plants and then playing soccer and then we went on an adventure in the park. Unfortunately it ended with Hunter falling off something hurting himself and then throwing up. Yippee!!! What a day.

My newest blooming creation

One of the daylilies I created is finally blooming. It's pretty sharp if I say so myself. Daddy I hope you are proud.

T-Ball

Ethan had a T-ball game tonight. Everyone had a great time, except Hunter, who didn't really want to be there. Over and over I had to listen to him say "I want to go home. Is it over yet? Can we go home now?" etc. etc. I on the other hand was loving every minute of the 200 degree weather. At least there was a breeze.

Ethan lost a tooth!

Ethan, my 6 year old lost a tooth yesterday. We were at his T-ball game and after the game during snacks & a juice pouch - woo - it really was hanging, so I reached in and ripped it right out of his mouth. That was a first for me. I remember my mother tying a string around a loose tooth and pulling - not happening in my house. I can't think about causing my kids any pain.

Anyway Ethan wanted me to take a close-up of the hole where his tooth was - we compromised and came up with this. Looks like something hurts doesn't it?

New Development

I have started a second blog. Its kind of fun, it has nothing to do with the boys or the family's daily life, its just random thoughts, rantings and/or musings. It gives me an outlet to just voice stuff. I've posted three times today. Who knew I had so much in me. You want to find it - its on my links. Me, Myself & I.

By the way anyone want to do something fun, donate to Krista's Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Run. She's doing a marathon in SF this October. I got a write up on her blog for donating - I even renewed her faith in mankind (Who knew I had that in me). Show her there are more random acts of kindness out there. Go to http://www.active.com/donate/tntwi/KristaRuns and donate if you feel so inclined!

Splash Park

The boys went a Splash Park with their Daddy this morning. Ethan said the best thing was just getting wet. Hunter he just liked being with this brother. What a kid!!! When we play a game and you land on the same square as him (Hunter) he says look we're snuggling. At least I know one of my kids will take care of me when I'm old and wrinkled.

Sunset

After getting 1.5 inches of rain in about 1/2 an hour this afternoon we had a very beautiful and colorful sunset.

GO SPURS!!

Grandma & Papa got the boys Spurs Western Conference Championship shirts today. Although Mason & I are sorry the Mavs aren't still in the playoffs, the boys are excited to be cheering for Grandma & Papa's favorite team, the Spurs. GO SPURS! Yes Mom, that is a mohawk Hunter is sporting. He has decided it is his new favorite hairstyle!

A Walk

Not so far from the house is a large tract of land with a big house, a big pool and a nice barn with a few horses roaming around. This morning we went on a walk to go see the horses, unfortunately they were in the back pasture and we didn't get to see them. We did see a nice big snarling dog that got out of the fence and followed us around for a while barking, but I think he eventually went back to his yard. We also saw some pretty flowers amd we took some pictures.
